We helped Bay Area Discovery Museum confront inequities in early education and create a visionary five-year plan that positions joyful play as a pathway for every child to thrive.
Bay Area Discovery Museum is beloved for creating a world of wonder for children and families to explore. The pandemic brought unprecedented challenges to many organizations and workplaces,
and, as magical as the Museum is, it was no exception. They were poised to return to some degree of normalcy, with organizational clarity and team alignment that would result from a Strategic Planning process and outcome.
Because Mission Minded methodology emphasizes naming the actual impact the organization exists to bring about in the world— rather than simply the operational business of achieving their mission—we helped Bay Area Discovery Museum recognize a greater strategic imperative than simply hitting reset.
We believed there was more they could do to speak to the systemic educational inequity in their community where children of families of color, and families with low income are not afforded the same opportunities in early educational experiences as their white or more affluent counterparts. So together, we set a bold vision to address such inequities.
In partnership with the board and staff we helped the museum articulate the world they imagine; one in which every child grows and thrives through joyful play.
This bold and inclusive vision sets the tone for their strategic plan and integrated brand strategy by swinging the doors of the museum open to the entire Bay Area population, both literally and figuratively.
The powerful 5-year strategic commitments we helped the museum set forth guide them to be an inspiring early childhood education partner for all Bay Area families—one that addresses the needs of young children, extends joyful play experiences into schools, and builds a child-centric community that nurtures future generations for the betterment of all. That’s a plan their community is ignited to help them achieve.
